Winding down

We had another wedding last weekend, then college cheerleading camp, an earthquake, and now I am feeling really great because its all over!!! I have one more wedding this summer, but its for one of my best friends and I get to enjoy it. The weddings haven't been bad but not having one single weekend free since May has been a little rough. Seriously, I got my stitches out of my mouth this afternoon and I actually enjoyed it. I enjoyed going in the car with my husband on the way, sushi for lunch (I am still a vegan.. but once in a while I will have a little fish. Still no dairy or anything else in 7 months! call me a cheater but I love ahi tuna!)and watering my father-in-law's tomato plants. It was awesome. Here are some pretty pictures from our adventures.

Stitches

I love stitches. I love mouth surgery. I do. I love having braces again at 25. It is awesome. Makes me feel really pretty and grown up. But, i had to get them again. I am one of those people that likes to do things on schedule, check things off my list, and make progress.

There were a few things that I wanted to check off my list before I get pregnant and Dave and I start a family. I feel good because I am slowly checking them off.
1. Go to grad school and graduate (three more months, then student teaching!)I will have my MAED in February or March.
2. Buy a house (loan paperwork is cleared, we have our financing, just waiting on escrow!)
3. Have my last mouth surgery and get my braces off (my teeth shifted since high school and I had to have one last tooth implant... this story could take 4 days to tell, but basically I am missing 7 permanent teeth thanks to my mother's genes and I have to have them surgically placed in my jaw...awesome).

So Monday morning they drilled a big hole in my jaw and put in a hollow screw implant. I can check that one off. But my tongue touches the stitches on the roof of my mouth every time I talk. It really hurts at night because apparently I talk a lot. One day closer to checking these things off.

Here is to having my ducks in a row... I think they are more of a gaggle.

My life is a gaggle of gooses (geese, but gooses sounds better).

Dave is doing good too. Just so you know.

Zacarias Lee Nickerson

Here he is. The newest addition to the Canales Clan. Zacarias Lee was born on Thursday at 9:51 in Harbor City at Kaiser. Weighing in at 7 pounds 14 ounces, this little dude is just about the sweetest little booger ever. Dave and I were blessed to be there from the 5 cm dilated to the birth of this healthy baby boy. The pictures are from the first few days of his life here with Bebe and Kevin. Some people might say watching a child being born might make them not want to go through it themselves, but I feel the exact opposite. I thought it was one of the most beautiful and amazing things ever. I cannot wait (but we are going to! I am not implying anything by that statement :)

Escrow is moving forward. Dave made a notebook a few days ago and everyday 4 or 5 new pages of hand drawn ideas are added. He is beyond excited, i think more than me. I love it when he gets excited like this. I just sit back and watch.

August 3

The paperwork is in line. The loan has been approved. Now we wait. August 3 we close. 20 days. Then the fun begins. And the work. And the dirt and the sweat and the love and the paint and the fun!

Magic words....

Dave and I went to Pittsburg this weekend.
Our friends Steve and Giovanna are now Mr. & Mrs. Lein!
Congratulations.
They leave for the Dominican Republic this weekend and I have to admit I am a little bit jealous.

So in other news... we flew back 0n Sunday morning, drove straight to the Long Beach Convention Center for an auction.

And BOUGHT A FRIGGIN HOUSE!

So now we are in escrow, hopefully closing at the end of the month, on our first home. It is a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom fixer-upper in Carson, down the street from target, starbucks, wingstop, chile verde (all of which make us very happy) and about 10 minutes city streets from Dave's family. We can actually get up a whole hour later for church on Sundays and still be there early.

And get a dog.
And plant flowers that I actually get to keep
And not pay someone else's morgage
And have someplace for my parents to stay when they come to visit that doesnt mean we have to sleep on the floor

More to come... we'll keep you updated!

Thank you Jesus for your crazy and miraculous blessings!

Uncle Time

Ever since Elisha was a little squirt (he is not even 2 yet, but it was not too long ago that he was having a hard time walking and barely made any sense) we played a game called Uncle Time. Basically its when uncle DaeDae plays football and wrestling games with him and pushes him around. Today uncle time meant wrestling on the bed at UCSB after dinner at FCA camp. Its day one, 700 campers showed up. Dave coached and I wrote two papers and finished a book. This is a wonderful break from the commotion of the last month. Wrestling with my nephew. Yep. This is the life.
